Methodological note: Sources for each law are given in short form on its card. Origins are drawn from primary works where traceable (e.g. Cyril Northcote Parkinson's 1955 Economist essay, Douglas Hofstadter's Gödel, Escher, Bach, Fred Brooks's The Mythical Man-Month) and from the earliest documented attribution where the origin is folk or contested (e.g. Murphy's Law, Hanlon's Razor). These are heuristics, not proofs — useful for framing a decision quickly, not a substitute for judgment in a specific case.
